can't resist touching the flame.
friday went really well, though i experienced jitterbugs the night before. can't put a solid reason as to why i was anxious about the induction when it was in fact just a short orientation. lasted shorter than usual, thus had the afternoon to myself. short tour of the school, introduction to the important people plus plus plus, we got to choose our own desk seats at the staff room. now, that's cool. unlike the rest, got allocated to two sessions therefore, i have two CTs. trying to take everything positively, so i'll see this as a learning experience which is what it is supposed to be, in the first place. was really nice to be recognised as part of the school, even got that happy jumpy feeling inside me, to know that in a few year's time, it'll be somewhat permanent. hopefully. i like how the school caters to students alot, cause that's really important. can't say that i can't wait for school to start, but at least the fear is subsiding slowly and gently. no news from the secondary school so far but let's hope that things will be smooth sailing as well, let's hope.

bought the ingredients for the cupcakes and even have those edible mini-decorations to make em' all pretty. second time baking soon and getting excited all over again, of course. this time more than the previous when i was making the apple crumble. now now, i'm still not addicted to baking just yet, although it is quite enjoyable i must say. the whole plan is looking good and coming together so let's do this (secretive smile)! parking lessons from bapak. and i might just..*faints*. harder than how i judged it would be. either it really is the situation for beginners or perhaps it's just me. bear with me, please.

lovely lovely saturday. early meet-up and we went to catch the first showing of get smart at shaw bugis at 1030 in the morning. just the two of us cause the rest of the girls couldn't make it and it ended up being a date, as what we like to call it :) nachos, sweet popcorn and pepsi light. get smart was funny hilarious and it definitely had us in pits of laughters throughout. 4 out of 5 popcorns, that's how i'll rate it. hah, i'm easily amused. the colour code for the day was red, if you haven't noticed by now. why red? to get in the mood of course. the main highlight of the day was supposed to be the trip to the civil defence heritage gallery so thus, we had to be in matching colours with the red hot fire engines. we were ready to be in the zone, ya'll! first few pictures are us right after watching get smart, re-application of lip gloss and outfit check. we did neoprints afterwards! the rest are me and faezah making our way to the heritage gallery. $1 ice-cream along the way and the sun was scorching. despite the both of us being the worst people ever with regards to directions and locations, we managed to locate the heritage gallery and the central fire station. saw the red doors, and we knew we were spot on. free admission by the way, which definitely was a huge plus.

the only visitors during that moment and the gallery got a bit freaky and eerie at some points. whatnot with the mannequins in firemen suits and activated sounds from mannequin victims. fear of mannequins increased but pushing that aside, the hands-on were pretty awesome. that's me with a really old-fashioned phone. the equipments and trucks were heavy and bulky, but all part of the protection safety rule. reports on previous big fires and safety precautions. that's us with the fireman's hat, we were definitely feelin' the heat! hahaha. too bad the costumes were too small, or we would have jumped right in. we found a kiddy corner and did some shading of fire stations and fire trucks. no souvenirs though i was pretty tempted to buy one of those plastic hats, for the fun of it. overall it was alright i guess, it being interactive and there were much to see.

civil defence heritage gallery trip was done. saw a real fire engine on our way out, making its way to the road. no, we didn't get a ride although that would have obviously put an edge to the whole firemen trip and obsession. and seeing that we were in red, we so ready and prepared to ride the fire truck! no plans thereafter and we walked around. singapore philatelic museum nearby but didn't stop by cause not huge fans of stamps. made our way back and decided along the way that it was time for lunch. stomach's grumbling after all that fire action.

got walkin' and ended up at marina square. faezah had cheesy cravings so pizza hut lunch, it shall be for the day. i had pizza for dinner yesterday, and the pizza flavour has yet to wash down. thus pizza was off the menu. instead, baked rice and pasta. soup of the day and lemon tea with extra lemons. hot hot gossips and chats over cheesy lunch and if it's one thing i learnt today, is that the best person to criticise yourself, is yourself. have one of those reality checks and review sessions once in awhile. it'll help, for sure. lunch was great, thank you faezah! we fooled around with the pictures on the wall, and we thought of headin' on to the esplanade rooftop terrace. too bad it was close hence we settled for the esplanade library instead. piano recitals and old movies screenings. we got comfy by the window and had talks about careers, kids and experiences. deep stuff..hah.

saw a whole stretch of marching people from the library window and decided to check it out. it brought us to an open space in front of the esplanade. NDP rehearsal was going on, which explains the mass of people and loud voices. once again, we were dressed for the occasion - red: the singapore colour. purple cotton candy and we sat down near the mass of people to catch glimpses of the rehearsal. army men in red shirts, photographers with huge cameras, huge tv screens. the last time i went to NDP was for a national education trip in primary 5, and i think that doesn't even actually qualify as going to NDP. most of the time, i'll be watching it at home, anticipating the various dances and fireworks from the telly screen. groups of youths playing music, having cosplay and dancing, families and friends just hangin' out. a vibrant place actually. heh, comfy shoes for the many walks today. a red parachute in the last picture, which was part if the NDP rehearsal show. great time today and it was definitely a wonderful date. many thanks, girlfriend :)

seeing that today was ace, hoping that tomorrow would be as well. that'll make the ending to the week a blast. i should start again on those morning jogs cause these fats are just settling in and getting really comfy, which may really cause a problem. next week, perhaps perhaps. of plans next week? we'll wait.
